The below dog breeds are currently banned from import to Saudi Arabia:
- American Pit Bull Terrier-
- American Bully
- Staffordshire Bull Terrier
- American Staffordshire Terrier
- Pit Bulls
- Rottweilers (breed or hybrid)
- Boxer (breed or hybrid)
- Any Mastiff or hybrid
- Brazilian Mastiff (Fila Brasilliero)
- Argentinian Mastiff (Dogo Argentina)
- Japanese Tosa
- BullDog (any breed or hybrid)
- perro de Presa Canario
All live animals listed under the CITES register require approval from the National Commission for Wildlife (NCW) before an Import Permit can be requested. MEWA may also request NCW approval for Bengal Cats, birds and rodents (including rabbits, rats, chinchilla etc.). Additional costs are incurred for these services, and approval is not guaranteed.
Cats should be listed as Domestic Short Haired (DSH) or Domestic Long Haired (DLH) if no lineage or specific breed is apparent
Dogs should be identified by at least two redeeming breeds i.e. Labrador / Husky Cross or Mix.
