Don’t leave it too late, and don’t leave them behind - Pet travel to and from Saudi Arabia
As tensions in the region continue to strain, many pet parents have contacted us to urgently relocate their furry friends, only to find the process isn’t as simple as booking a flight.
Pet travel is strictly controlled, and many countries require tests and treatments, sometimes months in advance of the travel date. This is in addition to the standard export documents that take 1-2 weeks to prepare and submit.
At a minimum you must ensure your pet has a microchip and valid vaccinations. If ‘home’ is the UK or EU then please get an RNATT certificate for your pet asap, it will be valid for the lifetime of the pet but must be done at least 3 months before travel. The USA may also require an RNATT test.
Some countries allow pets to travel as accompanied baggage, but many don’t. Some require additional documents and clearance, others not. Each country, and airline, has it's own rules and requirements, so it is vital you check the travel requirements for your pets' travel.
We urge all pet parents to not rely on social media for advice but to contact a reputable experienced pet relocation specialist who can give you the specific requirements for your pet based on the origin and destination.
The IPATA logo on a website will provide confidence that the company you are dealing with is a trusted member of a global network of specialists.
